The Crown Down 2-drill protocol is designed to work universally with major implant systems and platforms. Each system below has a published Crown Down user manual and drilling chart.
Why universal compatibility matters
Conventional implant drill kits are sold as part of a single manufacturer’s system: Nobel Biocare drills with Nobel Biocare implants, Straumann drills with Straumann implants, and so on for every major brand. Each kit costs $1,500 to $3,500 and only works inside its own ecosystem. The moment a clinician adds a second implant brand to the practice (and most do; the average implant practice runs 2 to 3 brands), the drill spend doubles.
Universal compatibility is what eliminates that overhead. Crown Down is not a Crown Down implant system; it is a drill system that prepares the osteotomy to standardized diameters, then maps those diameters to whatever implant brand you are placing. One kit, one tray, every case.
Mechanical compatibility
The drill shank uses an open-standard Morse 1.5° taper with a 4.0 mm well, mating with any standard contra-angle handpiece. No brand-specific driver, no proprietary connection, no adapter required.
Protocol compatibility
Each implant system in the table below has a published Crown Down drilling chart that maps the 2-drill protocol to the implant manufacturer’s recommended osteotomy diameters at every depth.
If your implant system is not listed in the table, the mechanical compatibility still applies (the handpiece interface is universal); the only missing piece is the written protocol mapping. Book a clinical demo and we will walk through the diameter mapping for your specific system and add it to this page.
Handpiece Interface
Crown Down drills use a Morse-style locking shank with a 4.0 mm well that mates positively with standard contra-angle handpieces, so you do not need a brand-specific drill driver to run the protocol.
